Children's Mercy Blocked Numbers
Office hours are subject to change due to weather conditions and other emergencies.
We are OPEN during this cold spell. If you are out and about, make sure you have warm clothing and a charged cell phone. Watch for slick spots! More winter safety tips below.
If we close unexpectedly for any reason, patients with scheduled appointments will get a text from Phreesia as long as they have not opted out of messages. If you've opted out, it's easy to opt back in, just send a text saying "unstop" to 8664671139 to opt back in!
If patients do not feel comfortable driving during winter weather, please call to reschedule your appointments. See our Winter Weather Policy for details.
We will monitor the road conditions and announce changes to our regular hours on this page. Please be sure to check back before coming to our walk-in clinics if the roads are questionable.
🩺If you have medical questions, remember you can always use our website for accurate information on managing symptoms at home.
We're sorry for the inconvenience, but safety takes priority!
- Check for updates if the road conditions are questionable before you come for any walk in visit. We will update this page as well as post to our Facebook and Instagram pages.
- If we plan to close at other times, we will notify everyone with scheduled appointments who will be affected.
- This sick season we are experiencing heavy phone traffic. Please check our website for at home management before calling to get faster answers and save our staff time.
Please be safe and stay warm!
Follow these tips for winter safety and prevention of rolling blackouts due to extreme low temperatures:
✔️If you must drive, take it slow, especially on curves and corners. Bring a fully charged phone, an ice scraper, and blanket for the car.
✔️Turn thermostats a little cooler (65-68 degrees)
✔️ Use electric space heaters only with supervision
✔️ Close blinds and shades to reduce the amount of heat lost through windows
✔️ Turn off unnecessary lights and appliances
✔️ When possible, delay non-essential uses of energy (washing/drying clothes, washing dishes and bathing) to hours lower in energy use (between 10 pm and 5 am)
✔️ Use low-temperature cooking methods and avoid opening the oven door if it’s on
✔️ Businesses should reduce the use of electric lighting and electricity-consuming equipment as much as possible
✔️ Large consumers of electricity should consider shutting down or reducing non-essential processes
✔️ Make sure phones, tablets and other devices stay at a full charge
✔️ Fill up your gas tank(s)
✔️ It’s cold enough outside perishable food will be okay in an outage
✔️ Check the exhaust area for your home's HVAC system if it stops working. It is possible for frozen humidified air or snow to block the outlet, which turns off the system as a safety measure.
✔️ Know where your main water valve is. In the unlikely event of an outage, turn it off and all faucets on to allow pipes to empty and prevent freezing
✔️ Keep a battery-powered charger on hand, if you can
✔️ Have a emergency kit on-hand, containing things like blankets, gloves, hats, warm/loose layers of clothes, flashlights and batteries
✔️ Bring pets indoors
Be safe and stay warm!
See our Winter Weather Office Policy if you have questions about it.
