Amy moved around a bit while growing up, but considers Kansas City her home. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and began working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Mercy Hospital soon after graduation. In 2008, she graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with her Masters of Science in Nursing degree. Around this time, she moved to Oklahoma City and began working as a Nurse Practitioner in a pediatric community health center. She and her family lived there for 4 years before moving back to the Kansas City area.

Amy is married and has three boys. They keep her very busy, but in her spare time she enjoys running, watching her boys play various sports, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
